Benefits, tax credits and the Disability Tax Credit
There’s real money in credits and benefits that go unclaimed every year. We check what you’re genuinely entitled to and file it correctly, including the Disability Tax Credit through our specialist partner.

What a benefits and credits review includes
Between federal and provincial programs, most people leave benefits on the table simply because no one told them. We review your situation, identify what applies, and make sure it’s claimed properly, from family and caregiver credits to the Canada Workers Benefit and the Disability Tax Credit.
Benefits Credits work also includes explaining timing, eligibility evidence and what to keep on file, so a claim is not treated like a guess. When a specialist partner is needed, we make that handoff clear.
That keeps benefits credits practical and easier to review later.
Benefits Credits work also checks how one claim affects another. A tax credit, disability approval, caregiver claim, child benefit or workers benefit can change the return, future payments and CRA follow-up. We review the household picture, not just a single line on a form.
We also explain how claims connect to the rest of the return. Some credits reduce tax payable, some affect benefits, and some require approval before they can be used. We make the order clear so you know what is being filed now, what may be adjusted later and what proof should stay in the file.
We also confirm what should not be claimed. That matters because a careful review protects the client from weak claims, delayed approvals and avoidable CRA questions.
We keep the recommendation conservative when support is weak, and stronger when the documents clearly fit the claim.
That balance is what keeps the file clean.

Tax credit questions we hear a lot
What is the Disability Tax Credit (DTC)?
The DTC is a non-refundable credit for people with a severe and prolonged impairment, and it can unlock other benefits. It requires a certified medical form and a careful application.
The Disability Tax Credit needs careful evidence because CRA is reviewing how an impairment affects daily life, not just the diagnosis name. We help clients understand the tax side of the credit, the timing, the retroactive possibilities and the documents that may be needed alongside the medical form.
We keep the tax guidance separate from medical judgment. Medical practitioners complete the medical certification, while we help explain tax impact, documentation, timing and how an approval may affect current and prior returns.
How does the Disability Tax Credit partner work?
For DTC applications we work alongside our specialist partner, disabilitytaxcredits.ca, who focus exclusively on getting these claims approved, while we handle how it fits into your overall tax picture.
Benefits Credits files sometimes need a specialist handoff, especially for Disability Tax Credit applications. When that is the better route, we explain why, keep the tax planning connected and make sure any approval is used properly on current or prior-year returns.
Can benefits be claimed for past years?
Often, yes. If you were eligible but did not claim, many credits and the DTC can be applied retroactively. We’ll check how far back you can go.
Retroactive Benefits Credits reviews need dates and records. We check when eligibility likely began, which years can still be adjusted, what CRA already assessed and whether a change will affect other benefits. The goal is to claim what is supportable without creating avoidable follow-up.
If a prior-year adjustment is possible, we review which years are still open, whether the return has already used related credits and whether benefit amounts may change. That prevents a claim from being filed without understanding the follow-up.
I’m a newcomer, which benefits apply to me?
Newcomers frequently qualify for the Canada Child Benefit and the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (renamed from the GST/HST credit in July 2026) sooner than they realise. We’ll set up what you’re entitled to.
Newcomer Benefits Credits depend on household details, arrival dates, children, income, marital status and CRA account setup. We help organize the first Canadian filings and benefit applications so the family receives what applies and knows what to update when circumstances change.
